THE DELAWARE COUNTY
EXPERIENCE
WELCOME TO DELAWARE COUNTY, PENNSYLVANIA — PHILADELPHIA’S WORK-HARD, PLAY-HARD NEIGHBOR — WHERE THE PEOPLE ARE DIVERSE, THE CITY MELTS AWAY INTO COUNTRYSIDE AND OUR HISTORY IS TRULY REVOLUTIONARY.
We are the professionals who pump life into the City of Brotherly Love; we bleed Phillies red, Eagles green, Flyers orange and Union blue. We can be discriminating and sophisticated but also down to earth and pretty darn blunt. We are world-renowned art museums and hometown festivals, exquisite gardens and war-torn battlefields, five-star restaurants and hometown brew pubs.
We have been welcoming visitors here for hundreds of years. In the mid-1600s, the Swedes
and Finns liked us so much that they stayed. You can still see one of the cabins they built in Drexel Hill. (It very well could be the oldest log structure in America.) The British came here and received a not-so-warm welcome at the Battle of the Brandywine
in 1777 — on a day that would eventually become known as Patriot’s Day — September 11. Even today, many of Philadelphia’s visitors arrive via Delaware County — since two-thirds of Philadelphia International Airport is, in fact, within
our boundaries.
