Her first job after college was with
an environmental consulting firm that
specialized in the assessment and
remediation of hazardous waste sites in
Massachusetts, with a particular emphasis
on hydrogeologic field investigations.
Warner said the highlight of that job
was “providing oversight of the installation,
and the subsequent operation and
maintenance, of a groundwater and soil
remediation system at a bulk petroleum
storage terminal for a major commercial
client.”
While working during the day,
she furthered her education by night

eventually earning an M.S. in
Environmental Engineering Science from
the University of Massachusetts.
In 2005, Warner moved with husband
Darin, a geologist, to Maryland, where she
began working at the MES and with the
Maryland Port Administration (MPA). She
initially concentrated on dredged material
containment facility projects, and then,
after a year and a half, began working with
Barbara McMahon, MPA Manager, Safety,
Environment & Risk Management.
Warner was instrumental in the
development and implementation of the
MPA’s Environmental Management System
and last year was able to help the MPA
obtain ISO 14001 certification, recognizing
that environmental standards are being
continually met and exceeded.
A
imee Warner came to her
current position as Senior
Engineer with the Maryland
Environmental Service (MES)
pretty naturally.
She grew up in Rhode Island — a small
state with a beautiful Atlantic coastline.
After graduating from prep school there,
she decided she needed to stay near
the ocean and at the same time make a
career out of improving the environment.
So she earned a B.S. degree in Marine
Safety and Environmental Protection from
the Massachusetts Maritime Academy
in Buzzards Bay. Warner continued
her immersion in all things oceanic by
