fficer Paul Pastorek
of theMaryland Transportation
Authority (MdTA) Police, Port of BaltimoreDetachment,
has beennamed theMdTAPoliceOfficer of theYear for
2013. A three-yearmember of the force, Pastorek received the
award for his exceptional work and servicewhile assigned to the
MdTAPolice detachment at thePort of Baltimore.
“Members of theMdTAPolice play a key role inprotecting
some ofMaryland’smost vital transportation facilities,” said

AnthonyBrown
during a ceremony in earlyMarch
at theMdTAPoliceHeadquarters. “From thePort of Baltimore
andBWIMarshall Airport to our bridges, tunnels andhighways,
these outstandingmen andwomen are vital to our efforts to
build a stronger economy by keepingpeople and commerce
moving safely and efficiently inMaryland.”
Pastorekwas described as awell-rounded officer and a
leader in criminal and traffic enforcement.
In2013,MdTAPolice officersmademore than400 criminal
arrests, issuednearly 170,000 traffic citations andwarnings,
and inspectedmore than25,000 commercial vehicles.
