OUTDOOR FUN
Kids 10 and older (with a parent) can challenge themselves at GO APE AT LUMS POND STATE PARK, a ropes
course and tree line adventure with 37 crossings over more than 3,166 feet including two Tarzan swings and four zip lines, many of which go straight over the pond. (Don’t be surprised if your kids get through it more easily than you do.) For a more leisurely day, explore the Red Clay Creek during a ride on the WILMINGTON & WESTERN RAILROAD, and pack a picnic to enjoy lunch at MT. CUBA CENTER before the return trip.
A Whole New View
Discover the beauty of the Brandywine Valley like you
never could before with RAIL EXPLORERS USA. This new attraction lets you load the family onto a small “explorer” vehicle and ride the rails on tracks alongside Red Clay Creek. Maybe let the kids pedal along while you enjoy the view. We won’t tell.
MUSEUM DAY
At the DELAWARE MUSEUM
OF NATURAL HISTORY,
kids will be drawn to
Tuojiangosaurus and
Yangchuanosaurus, the
fossilized remains of Asian
cousins of Stegosaurus
and Allosaurus, and then
explore caves and eagle
nests inside the Nature
Nook. The DELAWARE ART
MUSEUM has its own Kids’ Corner Creativity Hours, but older kids may well enjoy imagining the stories behind the work of Howard Pyle, the illustrator who popularized our modern image of pirates. And kids who like cars will be fascinated by the MARSHALL STEAM MUSEUM, which houses the world’s largest operating collection
of Stanley steam cars, including a 1916 electric car.
