SEYEDMEHDI JADALI, MD, FACS has been appointed Trauma Medical Director at Saint Francis Hospital. The hospital is currently a Participating Trauma System Hospital and is seeking a Level 3 Trauma Center designation. Dr. Jadali recently served as Director of Newark Urgent Care and Association Program Director for the Department of Surgery Residency Program at Christiana Care Health System.
MSD PAST PRESIDENT RAFAEL A. ZARAGOZA, MD was the 2016 recipient of the AMA Foundation’s Jack B. McConnell MD Award for Excellence in Volunteerism. The award recognizes the work
of a senior physician who provides treatment to patients who lack access to health care. The award was presented at the AMA Annual Meeting in Chicago in June.
In addition, a new operating room at Bayhealth Kent General Hospital was dedicated to longtime Bayhealth Foundation supporters Clair and Rafael Zaragoza, MD. Dr. Zaragoza has been associated with Bayhelath for more than five decades.

CHRISTIANA HOSPITAL was recognized by the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association with the “Get With The Guidelines Stroke Gold Plus” Achievement Award with Target: Stroke Honor Roll Elite Plus. The awards recognize commitment and success in implementing a high standard of stroke care by ensuring that stroke patients receive treatment according to nationally accepted standards and guidelines based on research and the latest scientific evidence.
NANTICOKE HEALTH SERVICES
In May NANTICOKE HEALTH SERVICES celebrated the conclusion of The Campaign for Nanticoke, which raised more than $5 million for improvements to Nanticoke Memorial Hospital. Funds raised will go toward renovation and improvements in the Emergency Department.
