RALPH P. IERARDI, MD, FACS was elected to a one-year
term on the Board of the Society for Vascular Surgery Membership Committee. Dr. Ierardi is a Vascular Surgeon and Medical Director of Surgical Research at Christiana Care Vascular Specialists.
STEPHEN PERMUT MD, JD was elected to serve as Chair of the Board of Trustees of the American Medical Association at the organization’s Annual Meeting in June. Dr. Permut is Chair of the Department of Family and Community Medicine at Temple University School of Medicine.
MATTHEW S. RUBINO, MD, FACS was appointed Chief of Surgical Services at Wilmington Hospital in July. Dr. Rubino is a member of The Medical Group of Christiana Care faculty attending for the Department of Surgery.

BAYHEALTH
BAYHEALTH received the Mission: Lifeline Bronze Receiving Quality Achievement Award for implementing specific quality improvement measures outlined by the American Heart Association for the treatment of patients who suffer severe heart attacks.
HEALTHVISIONS DELMARVA, a partnership between Bayhealth and the Peninsula Regional Health System to improve the overall health care experience for all Delmarva residents, was one of 39 health care collaborative networks selected to participate in the Transforming Clinical Practice Initiative and will receive up to $1,299,206 annually for four years to provide technical assistance support to equip clinicians with tools, information, and network support needed to improve quality of care, increase patients’ access to information, and spend health care dollars more wisely.

BEEBE HEALTHCARE was recognized by the National Safe Sleep Hospital Certification Program as a “Gold Safe Sleep Champion” for its commitment to best practices and education on infant safe sleep.
BEEBE HEALTHCARE VASCULAR LABORATORY was granted a three-year term of accreditation in Vascular Testing in the areas of Extracranial Cerebrovascular Testing, Peripheral Arterial Testing, and Peripheral Venous Testing by the Intersocietal Accreditation Commission.
BEEBE HEALTHCARE was recognized by Healthgrades for
5-Star Treatment of heart failure, pneumonia, sepsis, and gallbladder removal procedures. The 5-Star rating indicates a hospital’s clinical outcomes are statistically significantly better than expected.
BEEBE HEALTHCARE has received the Healthgrades Orthopaedic Surgery Excellence Award for 10 years in a row (2007-2016). Beebe was also named to Healthgrades’ America’s Best Hospitals for Spine Surgery.
CHRISTIANA CARE HEALTH SYSTEM
THE MEDICAL INTENSIVE CARE UNIT AT CHRISTIANA HOSPITAL
earned a Gold Beacon Award, the highest honor which the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses awards. This is the third time the unit has received the award.
CHRISTIANA CARE HEALTH SYSTEM earned redesignation as a Magnet organization for nursing excellence from the American Nurses Credentialing Center.
CHRISTIANA CARE HEALTH SYSTEM was recognized as a nationally top-ranked Community Value Five-Star hospital by Cleverly + Associates, an independent health care data and consulting services firm.
NANTICOKE MEMORIAL HOSPITAL
NANTICOKE MEMORIAL HOSPITAL was named to the 2015 “Most Wired” benchmark study published by H&HN, a leader in health care industry information. The designation indicates that the hospital takes aggressive measures to provide and protect patient information and privacy and recognizes significant steps to transition to more integrated, value-based care delivery
by using Information Technology tools to better facilitate the exchange of information in health care delivery.
