been increasing from a ranking of 56 percent in 1976. While we have slipped back to 65 percent in the 2014 Gallup poll, we moved up to second in the rankings. So, we are still valued by
the public. We provide a great deal of value to our patients and our society. Membership in the Medical Society of Delaware unites our voice and provides a powerful statement to the commitment we as physicians make every day as we care for our patients and improve the health of our communities. Our united voice, on behalf of our profession in
the face of today’s complex health care environment, is vital.
Times have drastically changed. I’ve heard many of you express the change fatigue we all feel from the rapidly changing regulatory environment in which we now practice. We are being asked to do more to simply justify our quality of care to the insurers and our government. These activities take us away from our true mission, the care we want to provide. The Medical Society is here to help. During our recent Strategic Planning retreat, we discussed what we would do to make MSD more relevant to you, our members, as we
go forward. One of our colleagues commented, “MSD needs to help me with the daily problems in my office to make the days go more smoothly.” Well, MSD is here for you; the

I’d like to especially acknowledge all the staff. Without our hardworking staff MSD would not be the great organization it is.
Thank you for the honor of being elected as the next President of OUR Medical Society. I look forward to the beginning of my term and hope to carry on the tradition of excellence established  served before me. Dr. Nancy Fan has done an excellent job leading our organization for the last two years and will be a hard act to follow. I stand proudly with you in “Leading the way to a healthier Delaware.”
