CASE REVIEW
Half of American adults have either diabetes or prediabetes!
However, progression from pre-diabetes to Type 2 diabetes is not inevitable!
A recent study published in the Journal of the American Medical Association reported that 12 to 14 percent of U.S. adults had diagnosed diabetes in 2012, the majority of which had type 2 diabetes, and nearly 40 percent have pre-diabetes. Efforts to increase the availability of diabetes prevention programs and promote their use appear to be helping to identify at-risk individuals and provide the infrastructure to support individual behavioral change to reverse the twin epidemics of obesity and diabetes.
