After a year of research, RFPs, and kicking the tires, the Medical Management System that will enable
our staff to meet the unique needs of our membership, similar to what Amazon has done for online retailing.
iMIS, a product of Advanced Solutions International, Inc. (ASI), was chosen by MSD as the software product of choice. iMIS is touted as the most popular membership database solution in the world and is rated Number 1
in an independent report by Lehman Associates for member self-service
built in web capability, social media capabilities, and mobile delivery. At the time of this writing, MSD is going through the conversion process of transferring the information from the existing database and website to the new system.
MSD had previously considered
using iMIS as a database platform; however, the price was not affordable for purchasing the software package along with the ongoing licensing and support required. During this most recent search for a viable system, MSD discovered that the Texas Medical Association (TMA), the nation’s largest medical society with more
than 49,000 physician and medical student members, as well as 110 county medical societies, also utilized iMIS. It was also discovered that TMA created a hosting infrastructure business
model to assist other state and county medical societies which found that iMIS was beyond their budget. TMA based their model on economies of scale, providing itself as the host,
as well as a variety of software and hardware solutions to securely store data and operate the iMIS software. TMA has 12 information technology professionals on staff and a number
of iMIS-experienced subject matter resources. They provide support, perform the upgrades, and host the system, which relieves the MSD staff from these responsibilities. TMA has a dozen or more state and county medical societies currently hosted on their
iMIS software system. The system is access Delaware information, and so on. And, the same security used to safeguard the TMA systems is the same used to safeguard our systems.
The iMIS product fuses database management and web publishing in a single sign-on cloud-based system, and eliminates those data silos our staff dealt with on a daily basis. The automation that comes with this
