In 2007 I undertook a project to research and write biographical sketches on each of the 27 physicians who founded the Medical Society of Delaware in 1789. The  Delaware Medical Journal in October 2007. With a few
interruptions, I continued researching, writing, and publishing articles about the founders through November 2013.
Now all of the MSD Founder articles have been compiled into a book, Founders of the Medical Society of Delaware, which will be released at the Medical Society of Delaware’s 226th  available there and I will be on hand for a book signing.

This unpublished 1,000-page manuscript of a biography of Dr. Tilton in seven bound “books” was included in other information on the founders from the Delaware Public Archives in Dover.
The author of the manuscript
is Francis Theodore Tilton, a
distant descendant of Dr. James
Tilton. Francis Tilton
(1884-1953) held a
number of positions
in business,
banking, and
on Wall Street
during his life.

was a church
organist and was
very active in the civic
