Resources
for Your Practice
Welcome to October’s President Page. It’s hard to believe how and how many things are happening. It has been exceptionally hectic behind the scenes at the Medical Society. Our staff continues to keep our Society rolling along seamlessly. As I have traveled to other state society meetings these last few months, I am struck
by the fact that we all have similar problems and issues — the opioid crisis, medical marijuana, government regulations, and state issues. But, I
am also amazed by how relevant and innovative our Society has been. While as individual physicians we may not see our Society doing a lot for us on a day- to-day basis, rest assured it really is. While speaking with other executives from other societies, I am surprised at how far along the curve we are and how innovative we can be.
Last month I outlined some of the new programs that are being developed
and implemented — our Multiple Employer 401(k) Plan and our Human Resources Services Program with XcelHR, Inc. I also mentioned the
grant for development of our leadership education program. Essential Seminars for Physicians, LLC (ES4P) was selected as the consultant for our program. We are planning to start the month. Our Excellence in Physician
Leadership Series will enroll a maximum of 20 physicians per group and we
expect to be able to train a new group every three to four months. The course
is available to any physician, but our members will receive a discount for
the tuition. The course is online with
two additional in-person sessions. This activity has been approved for AMA PRA Category 1 CreditTM. We are creating the MSD Leadership Institute which will offer other online CME-based programs. MACRA, and other topics are just a
few of the courses that will be available through the MSD Leadership Institute. Check out the MSD website for more information and consider signing up for a CME course. We need more physician leaders who understand how to negotiate and navigate the new health care world in which we practice. We need new skills, ones that we did not learn in medical school.
MSD also has many other educational
tools available through our Physician Relations Department. A simple call will open the door to a wealth of practice management support and tools to help individual physicians in their day-to-day practice.
