8.Work Your Hangers. Ashley uses velvet hangers. “Things don’t fall off,” she says. “It’s so nice when everything stays where it should be.” She also recommends a simple trick. “Make sure all the hangers are facing the same direction, then turn a hanger the opposite way after you’ve worn an item. Start at the beginning of a season. A few months later, it’ll be easy to spot which items haven’t been worn and might be ready for donation or consignment.”

or look worn. “If it doesn’t fit, it immediately goes in the bag. I’m not going to let it back on the shelf. Once a month or once a season, I peek at what’s in there. In most cases I take it to donate.”
6.First Things First.
Ashley also recommends
making sure the clothes you reach for first — whether professional attire or casual clothes — are easiest to access. Keep them
front and center in your closet.
7. Arrange by Color. Place like items together — blouses, sweaters, dresses — then within each section, arrange by color. Not only will this approach help you find things easily, but it can
also save you money. “You form a mental catalog,” says Ashley, “so when you’re out shopping,
you know what you have and what you need.”
