In this project, the clients requested addi- tional closet space in the master bedroom. The logical solution was to expand over an existing sun porch, but the sun porch need- ed significant repair. Owings Brothers’ solu- tion? Remove and replace the structure and add a full basement below. The new design would add a bright, airy Sunday napping room, too.
As with many renovations, initial goals are complicated by structural challenges. Success lies, however, in the contractor’s ability to integrate attractive new design concepts despite unexpected developments.
