Delaware County’s medical centers provide a wide array of services.
Delaware County is home to some of the region’s most decorated health centers. From cancer treatment to pre-natal care to acute care to mental health services, Delaware County has the resources to serve its diverse population.
Here is a closer look at many of those facilities and agencies:
MERCY FITZGERALD HOSPITAL/
MERCY HEALTH SYSTEM
Mercy Fitzgerald Hospital is part of Mercy Health System, which offers advanced acute care services in Delaware County and Southwest Philadelphia. The 204-bed teaching hospital is located in Darby, Pa. The hospital’s achievements include being named a Blue Distinction Center for Cardiac Care, a Bariatric Surgery Center of Excellence
and a Certified Primary Stroke Center as well
as earning Achievement Awards from both the American Heart and Stroke Associations.
CROZER KEYSTONE HEALTH SYSTEM
The not-for-profit Crozer-Keystone Health System includes five hospitals: Crozer-Chester Medical Center, Delaware County Memorial Hospital, Taylor Hospital, Springfield Hospital and Community Hospital.
In addition, the health system has several outpatient centers, the Healthplex Sports Club and a comprehensive physician network
of primary care and specialty practices.
MAIN LINE HEALTH
Main Line Health includes
four of the most respected
acute care hospitals in the
region: Lankenau Medical Center,
Bryn Mawr Hospital, Paoli Hospital and
Riddle Hospital. Main Line Health also includes
Bryn Mawr Rehabilitation Hospital – one of
the nation’s premier facilities for rehabilitative medicine. In addition, Main Line Health offers a diverse group of specialty services.
CHILDREN’S HOSPITAL OF PHILADELPHIA
The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, or CHOP, has been at the forefront of pediatric care since 1855. Through the years, CHOP has fostered medical discoveries and saved the lives of numerous children. CHOP takes pride in knowing that families from all over the world seek out the hospital for care only it can provide. That level of care and innovation has repeatedly earned it a spot on the U.S. News & World Report’s Honor Roll of the nation’s best children’s hospitals.
AMERIHEALTH CARITAS
AmeriHealth Caritas is a group of companies that
offers a range of services for individuals and
employers. From offering locally focused health insurance plans to national-scale
programs that assist those who need it the
most, AmeriHealth works to help its customers through
innovative health insurance and wellness solutions.
ELWYN
Elwyn has been in operation since 1852 when
it opened one of the nation’s first schools for children with intellectual disabilities. Elwyn continues to be at the forefront of developing unique, innovative services for people with disabilities. Elwyn is constantly developing new service models and programs to meet the changing needs of the people it serves.
MELMARK
Melmark is a comprehensive multi-service agency that provides residential, educational, vocational and therapeutic services for children and adults with autism, intellectual disabilities, brain injuries and other neurological and genetic diagnoses. Melmark’s vision is to be recognized as a center of excellence for each of the services offered.
COMMUNITY YMCA
OF EASTERN DELAWARE COUNTY
The Community YMCA of Eastern Delaware County is a charitable association founded on Christian principles, dedicated to building a totally healthy person. It is committed to being a positive part of family life by promoting the values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility.
The YMCA offers a mix of programs, classes and facilities designed to keep the body, mind and spirit healthy.
