Dining under the Stars in Media is a classic summer event on Wednesdays from early May through late September. Each week, the Borough closes State Street (from Jackson to Orange Streets) to vehicular traffic from 5 to 11 p.m. This allows Media’s great restaurants to set up their tables outside (right across the trolley tracks!)*
for the biggest, most fun, alfresco shopping and dining event around. These weekly extravaganzas are tremendously popular. Reservations at your restaurant of choice are recommended, but don’t let a last-minute decision stop you. Just stroll through the streets until you find a place you like.
Tower Theater, located in Upper Darby, was built in 1927 and is a popular venue for nationally renowned musical acts. The theater has also been used for recording live albums by many of the country’s most famous bands.
Marcus Hook Pirate Festival channels your inner buccaneer with a full encampment with period tents and demonstrations. Local vendors showcase their wares, firearms, cannon and beer making. In the Park area there are games, a wide variety of food, live pirate music, face painting, pony rides, a petting zoo, crafters, a beer garden and much more.
Catholic Community Choir, founded
in 2007, provides musical, artistic and spiritual development of all children (18 months-18
years old) with engaging community theater performances. The staff teaches children to broaden their artistic talents on- and off-stage and through service to our local communities.
Melmark Joybells have performed regularly at churches, schools, colleges, corporate and community events since 1970. The group has
also played at three White House events, at a gubernatorial inauguration in Pennsylvania and has performed the national anthem at a Phillies game.
Sun Center Studios is Pennsylvania’s premier film and television production facility. Since opening in 2011, Sun Center has hosted two feature films (“After Earth” and “Paranoia”), commercials for PowerAde, Arby’s and the Pennsylvania Lottery, as well as photo shoots for Under Armour and USA Network’s “Political Animals.”
Chadds Ford Days is an annual commemoration of the Revolutionary War’s Battle of Brandywine. The popular event features colonial crafters, folk music and volunteers dressed in traditional garb. There is also a wide selection of fine fabrics, including everything from brightly colored caps to expertly knitted shawls.
People’s Light and Theatre Company has performed plays drawn from many sources to entertain, inspire and engage the community for almost 40 seasons.
