Delaware County has a vibrant business community where both well-established and new companies flourish.
There are numerous resources offered by the Delaware County government that will help you start a business, whether it’s access to capital or an experienced mentor. Delaware County also has a strategic location to help boost local firms. The area’s picturesque setting is easily accessed from points both north and south by I-95 – the main route for moving along the East Coast. Quality of life is high, with tight-knit communities, an array of recreational outlets, a wealth of arts and culture and nationally recognized schools. Numerous businesses have grown and thrived in the region for generations.
Axalta Coating Systems, with operations in suburban Delaware County, has 150 years
of experience in the coatings industry. The firm has 36 manufacturing facilities, four global technology centers, 30 technology laboratories and 47 customer-training centers. Axalta Coating provides a wide range of performance and transportation coatings for manufacturers
of light and commercial vehicles, the refinish aftermarket and for many industrial applications. The company was among 10 suppliers honored by Daimler AG for outstanding performance during the past financial year with the 2015 Daimler Supplier Award.
Boeing, which has a facility in Ridley Park, Pa., is the world’s largest aerospace company and leading manufacturer of commercial jetliners and defense, space and security systems. In 2013, the company secured a five-year $4-billion contract to make Chinook helicopters for the Army at its Pennsylvania plant. Boeing supports airlines, and U.S. and allied government customers in more than 150 countries.
UPS has stores and centers throughout Delaware County, which means hundreds of jobs. UPS is the largest package delivery company in the world and specializes in providing supply chain management solutions. The company has
almost $50 billion in revenue and delivers almost five billion packages and documents annually.
Springfield Mall is a 589,000-square-foot regional shopping center located in Springfield Township. The mall has more than 80 stores, including national staples such as Macy’s and Target. Springfield Mall also provides hundreds of jobs for the local community and lures customers from around Delaware Valley. The mall has dining options to satisfy every palate.
The Southeastern Pennsylvania Regional Transit Authority (SEPTA) runs bus lines and the Regional Rail Line, connecting points throughout Delaware County and beyond to major shopping and transit points.
Chester Water Authority dates back
to 1866 and has provided fresh water for local residents ever since. Today, the Authority’s water meets or exceeds all the criteria established by the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection, the United States Environmental Protection Agency and the American Water Works Association (AWWA). Chester Water Authority charges the lowest practical rates to cover operation and maintenance costs, capital requirements and bond obligations.
Rolling Green Golf Club is celebrating its 90th anniversary this year by hosting the third
oldest USGA championship, the U.S. Women’s Amateur. Golfers from around the globe have competed to earn a place in the championship. 156 ladies, plus their family and coaches, will be brought to Delaware County. The club will also prepare for a multi-million dollar renovation after the amateur in fall of 2016.

Steger, Gowie & Co., Inc. is a CPA firm that is celebrating a one-year anniversary for its second office in Delaware County. With branches in both sides of the county – Chadds Ford and Springfield – Steger, Gowie & Co. has a much wider footprint to serve clients.
2SP Brewing Company opened its doors in summer of 2015 in Aston. The founders of 2SP are well-known beer crafters and restaurant owners, but are even more recognizable for introducing Delco Lager.
Wegman’s brought more than 500 jobs
to Concordville, Delaware County, when they opened in November 2015. Rumors have begun to surface that Wegman’s is working on a store located in Marple.
