For a successful outing with kids, choose
the Black Bear Tavern and Restaurant (blackbeartavern.com), which offers a “Bear Cub Grub” kids’ menu. At night, Black Bear transforms into a bar and club where you can dance the night away with live music. Live entertainment is also a draw at lakefront tiki bar Honi-Honi (honi-honi.com) and at MoonShadow (moonshadow145.com) in McHenry. Bonus: MoonShadow serves up natural, locally sourced food that’s free of preservatives and additives, so you can feel good about indulging.
Affordable dining in a casual atmosphere is another strength of Garrett County’s dining scene. JG’s Pub (jgspub.com) is known for cheesesteak hoagies, crabcakes and wings. Comfort food that will feed
the whole family is also available at Ledo Pizza (ledopizza.com/store/md-deep- creek-lake), famous for its square slices; The Greene Turtle (thegreeneturtle.com), a sports bar and casual hangout spot for all ages; or Uno Pizzeria (deepcreekuno. com). If your family loves Mexican food, try El Canelo (facebook.com/profile. php?id=100063506295461) in Oakland, with its filling, reasonably priced specials.

Go Go Gelato (instagram.com/gogogelato560) sells 18 flavors of gelato and Italian ice both at its retail location in Oakland and from a truck — maybe at your next event.
