Our forests are doing important work. They produce oxygen
and absorb carbon dioxide. Their soil filters our water and supports our food supply. Their shelter provides wildlife habitats
and places for people to hike and relax.
In the state of Georgia, the benefits of these environmental services have been conservatively valued at $37 billion annually by a 2011 University of Georgia study.1
