Graduated medical school in 1955. Entered active duty from USAR July 1, 1956. Basic training, Fort Sam Houston, TX. Was assigned to Hospital, Fort Crowder, MO, as Pediatrician. Chief, Outpatient Department and Pediatrics, 1956-1958. Was assigned to Hospital Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD, 1958. Honorably discharged, Aberdeen, June 1958. Alfonso P. Ciarlo
Played clarinet in the Delaware Army National Guard
Band. Prior to being drafted, he transferred to the 116th MASH (DEARNG). Called to active duty in 1954. Basic training at Camp Picket, VA. Advanced training at Fort Sam Houston, TX. Served as an X-ray technician at Madigan Army Hospital, Tacoma, WA and subsequently the Tripler Army Hospital, HI. Relieved from active duty with the rank of Sergeant. Graduated from medical school in 1965. Returned to the Army for Internship at the
Walter Reed Army Medical Center. Retired from the Army at the conclusion of his internship in 1966. “The Army was the most maturing and disciplinarian experience of my life.”
Alan Fink
Graduated from medical school in 1970. Joined an Army Reserve Unit that year and served until 1977. During his post- doctoral studies in Neurology, there were active-duty stints at Fort Dix, Walter Reed, Fort Meade, Fort Hamilton, and Fort Belvoir. Honorably discharged in 1977.
