Professions Scholarship. After graduation from medical school, she entered an Internal Medicine Internship at the Naval Medical Center in San Diego, CA. The next appointment was
a Family Medicine residency at Naval Air Station Whidbey Island Medical Center. Her active-duty assignment was as battalion surgeon for Naval Mobile Construction Battalion Three, serving in Afghanistan and Africa. She was awarded the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (three awards), Afghanistan Campaign Medal with Bronze Star, Global War
on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Navy Sea Service Deployment Ribbon, and the NATO ISAF Medal. She was separated from active service on August 1, 2012 at Port Hueneme, CA.
Bruce Lutz
Served 1982-1991. Surgical internship and Orthopaedic Surgery residency at Balboa Navy Hospital. Deployed and served with the 2nd Marine Division in Operation Desert Storm.
Christopher J. Murphy
Called to active duty in 1983, Atlanta, GA. Served as a Flight Surgeon, Naval Air Facility, Andrews AFB. Attended the Naval Aerospace Medical Institute. Was awarded the Navy Achievement Medal. Separated from active duty in March 1994, at Washington, DC.
Dana L. Newswanger
Served in Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2003 as a Family Physician. Over 17 years active and reserve status.
Arlen D. Stone
Entered into Naval service in June 1988, probably on
a military scholarship. First noted military assignment was Bethesda Naval Hospital from June 1990 – July 1991, probably an internship. Military unit assignment 2nd Marine Air Wing Support Group 27, Cherry Point, NC, July 1991 – July 1993. Awarded Navy Achievement Medal and Humanitarian Service Medal. Appears separated from obligatory service in 1996.
Joel D. Temple
First assignment for the Navy was Portsmouth Navy Medical Center in 1991. In 1994, he was assigned to the Naval Hospital Roosevelt Roads, Puerto Rico. He was the Department Head, 1995-1997. Was awarded Navy Commendation Medal, and a Unit Commendation, the Humanitarian Service Medal, and a Coast Guard Meritorious Unit Commendation. He was separated from active duty at the Portsmouth Navy Medical Center in 1999.
Paul M. Yerkes
Available records appear to show enlistment in the United States Marine Corps Reserve in 2001. He was assigned to the Marine Corps Combat Engineers, Bridge Company B, 6th Engineer Support Battalion, 4th MLG, Folsom, PA, September 2001. The unit was activated in support of Operation Enduring Freedom/Iraqi Freedom. He was awarded the Iraq Campaign Medal and the Armed Forces Reserve Medal. He was honorably discharged from active duty at Folsom, PA on September 6, 2009. There is no record of service as a physician in military service.
James M. P. Zurbach
Recalled to active duty under Executive Order 12727, January 16, 1991 in support of Operation Desert Shield/
Storm. Last duty station was Fleet Hospital 15, Saudi Arabia. Separated from active duty on April 4, 1991. Awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Sea Service Ribbon, Antarctic Service Medal (with winter overclasp). Completed required active service.

Joseph H. Richman
Participated in college in Army ROTC, 1959-1961. Graduated medical school with a Berry Plan deferment in 1966, to complete internship and residency in Pediatrics. Entered active duty at Langley AFB, Hampton, VA, 1969. Assigned 4500th USAF Regional Hospital at Headquarters Tactical Air that he was assigned to Operation Patch Up as an active-duty assignment, to be transferred to Europe in an emergency. He was not called up for that duty. Served two years of active duty and six years inactive reserve, with an honorable discharge in
