PORT CHESTER
Considered a “hub of commerce surround- ed by affluence,” the urban-esque nucleus of Port Chester yields to more suburban areas outside of town. But it’s the downtown re- gion that sets Port Chester apart. Featuring

RYE VILLAGE
Lovely restaurants and boutiques make this walkable town a suburban delight. The quiet neighborhoods on its outskirts are filled with beautifully manicured homes and supported by excellent schools. Leisure op- tions abound, including top tennis clubs, beachfront parks and bathing clubs.
NORTHERN TOWNS AND VILLAGES
ARMONK
The village of Armonk centers around a gourmet grocery store complete with up- stairs tasting room for craft beers. A hand- ful of excellent restaurants, pretty shops and small businesses complete the town, which offers easy entry to major highways. Although Armonk is home to IBM head- quarters and a business park, the surround- ing area is a nature lover’s paradise. Parks, preservations, private tennis and golf clubs are all part of the woodsy motif.
BEDFORD
The equestrian set embraced Bedford township long ago, thanks to its wide-open spaces and miles of trails. The picturesque village is a triangle of churches with an as- sortment of stores (two tack shops!), cozy restaurants and a beautiful village green. Celebrities adore the place for its large, pri- vate estates and low-key vibe. Golf clubs, riding stables and tennis courts abound, yet there are large undeveloped tracts of land for hiking, trail riding, picnics and more.
