Turkish Delegation Tours Port
as Part of Trade Visit
A
high-level delegation from the coastal city
of Trabzon, Turkey, recently spent a week
in Maryland as part of ongoing efforts to
build trade and investment relations. Maryland Governor Martin O’Malley,
Secretary of State John P. McDonough and other officials met with the
delegation, which was led by Dr. Recep Kizilcik, the Governor of Trabzon.
A private tour of the Port of Baltimore occurred on the third day of the
delegation’s visit, and included the opportunity to meet members of the U.S.
Senate and House of Representatives. Port consultant and former U.S. Rep.
Helen Delich Bentley also participated.
Welcoming the delegation to town was Azita Moghaddam, Founder and
President of Abundances, a Maryland-based, minority-owned consultancy
company. Introductions were also arranged with representatives of the state’s
thriving biomedical industry, since Trabzon is noted for its multitude of medicinal
and aromatic plants.
Participating in a recent Turkish trade visit were, from left, Ismail Aslaner (Eastern Black Sea
Development Agency), Azita Moghaddam (Abundances Consulting), Cetin Oktay Kaldirim
(Eastern Black Sea Development Agency), Dr. Recep Kizilcik (Governor of Trabzon), Suat
Hacisalihoglu (Chamber of Commerce) and Joseph Greco (Maryland Port Administration).
